We
took the ski lift trip up the mountain facing Lake Louise and its
sprawling hotel, the Chateau Lake Louise. I've seen the impossibly
picturesque view of it in travel brochures and web sites ever since
I started planning the trip, and I can't believe I finally got to
see it in person. It's even more beautiful, if possible, then the
postcards, although the hotel is undergoing major expansion and
the cranes and construction scenes are never revealed in the ads.

But
we saw the view of the star Lake Louise both from up and afar from
the ski lift, where she is dwarfed by the mountains surrounding
her, then drove down to actually feel the coolness of her flowing
water.

The
unique aquamarine color is never truly accurately captured on film,
and the hues and tones change every time you look at her. I am thrilled
to have finally met her in person after having drooled over her
image for so long.

I'm
sure if the government found out how much fun we're having, they'd
find a way to make it more expensive or tax it more or make it more
fattening or something.

Mom's
favorite was nearby Moraine Lake, which she thought had more of
a mystical feel. I'm glad I didn't really have to judge that contest,
because you could go crazy trying to choose between such beautiful
creatures.
